This Week’s Tip Sheet: Bedroom Refresh and Nightly Routine Tips
Hello, beautiful friends.
How are you?
I hope your transition from the holidays to the New Year has been a peaceful one.
I know a lot of us are diving back into routines and work this week.
So, I just want to remind you that it’s ok to go slow.
It’s ok to take your time to figure out what you want your goals, dreams, intentions and healthy habits to be.
It’s ok if you don’t have your vision board finished yet or if you can’t figure out a Word of the Year.
It’s ok if you’re just getting started or have already gotten off track a bit.
January is a fabulous month to approach these kinds of decisions like a scientist.
To ask why something is working well or is not working at all.
To investigate assumptions.
To test a hypothesis.
And produce evidence.
You don’t have to have it all figured out.
You simply have to gift yourself the curiosity to explore, the freedom to try and grace to fail without judgement.
Until next time, I hope you enjoy this week’s Tip Sheet and related blog posts.

This Week’s Tip Sheet…
Quote of the Week:
“One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.” ~ Henry Miller
This Week’s Big To-Do’s:
- Get Clear on This Year’s Goals and Intentions
- Refresh Primary Bedroom or Create a Cozy Winter Home
- Start a New Journal, Book, Bible Study, Challenge, or Podcast Series
- Continue to Prioritize Nightly Routine, Skincare, and Positive Sleep Habits
This Week’s Tidy Tip:
Before I start decluttering or refreshing any room in the house, I stand in the doorway so I can take in the entire space for a few moments.
Then I ask myself two simple questions…
- What do I love about this room?
- How do I want it to feel?
Once I have those answers I ask myself one final question…
- What changes do I need to make to create that vision?
At first glance, this technique might seem too simple.
But the answers (usually the ones that pop into your head immediately) will not only help give you clarity but will also provide your first set of action steps.
For example:
If you love your bed because it feels warm and inviting but you barely notice it for the clothes, books, and device cords hanging off your nightstands or piled up on your floor, you know instantly what you need to work on…
- Creating an easier system for putting away your clothes
- Having a designated space for your books
- Finding a way to charge your devices and organize the cords
While I freely admit there are times when a complete makeover is warranted, often it’s the little tweaks we make here and there that have the biggest impact.
So, don’t be afraid to start small.
This Week’s Wellness Tip:
Creating more mindful nights will help set your mornings (and your day) up for success.
One of the easiest ways to get started on a nightly routine is to think through and address your morning pain points.
For example:
- If you dread walking into your kitchen each morning because it’s always messy, commit to cleaning up from dinner, loading and running the dishwasher before you go to sleep each night.
- If you stand in your closet and feel like you have nothing to wear, plan your outfits by the week or create your own work uniform.
- If you feel unmotivated to go on your morning walk, find workout shoes and clothes you love, lay them out the night before, get an accountability partner, or give yourself a reward to look forward to. Better yet, address why you feel unmotivated. You might feel pressed for time, and you simply need to change your morning workout to an afternoon or evening one.
- If your goal is to drink more water, fill your water bottle up at night. That way, you’ll have it for the next day.
- If you tend to skip breakfast or find yourself grabbing donuts on the way to work, find healthy make ahead recipe ideas to enjoy. We love smoothies, egg white bites, breakfast burritos, overnight oats and chia seed pudding.
- If you wake up overwhelmed or unfocused each morning, write down a list of things you need to prioritize for the next day before you go to bed. That way, you’ll be able to hit the ground running!
- If you’re constantly searching for your purse, work bag, keys, phone or glasses, consider adding a tray or a basket to your entry area to help corral these items.
Some of our most common morning pain points have relatively easy solutions.
So, set yourself up for success by being proactive and consistent.
As always, I’ll be cheering you on.

I like your advice of standing in the doorway and observing your room and then think of how you want to do with it.
