Antique Jewelry Inspired Christmas Ornament

We’re sharing how to make an antique jewelry inspired Christmas ornament today!

One of my favorite things to do each holiday season is to make Christmas ornaments.

Sometimes I’ll craft ornaments for our themed tree.

Other times, I’ll craft ornaments that serve as gift tags.

It just depends on how busy the season has been.

No matter how many ornaments I’m able to create though, I always make time to craft at least one special ornament for my Mom to represent the year.

This year, it took me a while to find just the right pieces.

I wanted something that felt vintage and had a little sparkle but kept coming up short.

Finally, I decided to wander the jewelry making aisles of Hobby Lobby because I was running out of time and found a pendant, I knew my Mom would love almost immediately.

After that everything fell into place.

Here’s a look at how to make an antique jewelry inspired Christmas ornament.

Jewelry Inspired Christmas Ornament Supplies

  • Flat Ornament (we found this ceramic one at Hobby Lobby)
  • Rustoleum Spray Paint
  • Jewelry Pendant (we found this one at Hobby Lobby, be sure it’s flat on the back)
  • Peal Necklace or Additional Embellishments, optional
  • Strong Adhesive Glue
  • Ribbon, optional

 Jewelry Inspired Christmas Ornament Steps

Gather your supplies and make sure your worksurface is clean.

Paint your ornament and allow it to dry completely.

We used Rustoleum spray paint in Metallic Champagne Bronze.

Next, attach your antique jewelry inspired pendant to your ornament.

As always, make sure you read all the instructions that come with your choice of glue.

Especially, if you’re using metallic paint.

Once your pendant is securely in place, add additional embellishments if desired with your adhesive of choice.

Finally, add a bow or ribbon so your ornament can be easily hung on the tree or gifted.

Then allow your antique jewelry inspired ornament to dry overnight.

Making Time to Handcraft Christmas…

What I love about this antique jewelry inspired ornament is that it was simple to put together and budget friendly as well.

And while I know it’s not always easy to make time to craft ornaments, especially during the holiday season, there’s just something about snuggling up on a cold and rainy winter day with the twinkling lights from the Christmas tree, holiday favorites playing in the background and a hearty ramen simmering on the stove that offers us all an invitation to slow down and let our creativity guide us.

So, this year I encourage you to take the opportunity to create something beautiful when it’s presented.

Because you never know where it might lead.
