From the Front Porch: Spring to Summer Reset Edition
Hello from the front porch sweet friends and welcome to the Spring to Summer Reset Edition of this weekly series.
How has your week been?
As I shared in Tuesday’s email, this week has been all about resetting after being out of town most of last week.
My Mom and I celebrated Week 6 of the Habits for Purposeful Living Challenge with lots of fun adventures from treasure hunting to visiting the tea room to our annual Derby party and so many other things in between.
One of the things we talked about while we were together is how important it’s been to make time to reset and establish healthy rhythms after life changing events.
While it wouldn’t have changed our circumstances, I think it might have made things easier to handle these past 18 months.
Instead, we “soldiered on” and “pulled ourselves up by the bootstraps” and took an “onward and upward” mindset that kept us busy so we didn’t have to deal with all the sad stuff that was happening around us.
Now that we’re on the other side of things though, I can see what we needed most was to give ourselves permission to take more breaks, to talk about the hard stuff, to lean into self-care, make time for joy and laughter, embrace micro habits, to infuse simple pleasures back into our days and to create a structure that helped us get unstuck.
So, as we begin making the transition from spring to summer, I encourage you to think about your reset policy.
Do you know how to help yourself get back on track?
Are the tools in your resiliency toolbox on point?
Are the systems and routines you currently have in place working for you?
Is it time for a glow up?
If you haven’t started thinking about your summer goals and themes, now it a great time to start thinking about them.
They don’t have to be big or bold unless you want them to be, simply something that motivates you, gives you hope and makes you excited about what’s to come.
