From the Front Porch
Happy Valentine’s Day from the front porch you guys! How was your week? We hope it’s been a good one for you.
Do you have any fun plans for Valentine’s Day today?
We had planned to spend the day doing all our favorite things which include pink pancakes, chai lattes, a trip to the bookstore, an event at the zoo, Thai food for dinner and chocolate strawberry cupcakes for dessert. I think it’s going to have to wait until Sunday because the cold and flu bug seems to be making its way around the house now. I’m totally ok with waiting until we’re healthy and can really enjoy it though.
I’m not 100% yet but I’m definitely feeling better after struggling through three bouts of the hives and a severe cold. Thankfully, I was able to rest a lot and drink gallons of green tea and chicken noodle soup.
You guys were super sweet to leave get well messages, thank you! They helped so much.
Scenes from our week…
My Dad delivered the small buffet/sideboard this past Sunday, so I’ve been working on it this week which has been fun. I’m on the hunt for wood appliques now and am excited to see how the dining rooms comes together once this piece is painted.
A sneak peek into how we’re going to style the dining room hutch after I finally unpacked some of the goodies we picked up at the Renninger’s Extravaganza in January. I still need a few statement pieces, so we’ll be headed back tomorrow ?
We’ve been laying pretty low this week, but we do have something pretty significant to celebrate…18 weeks post accident, S is officially wheelchair and ramp free!
She’s still in physical therapy multiple times a week, wears devices on both legs, and uses crutches every day because she’s not strong enough to walk on her own without aids yet. That said, it’s been a long journey so we’re celebrating every single event big or small we can!

52 Weeks to a Simplified & Organized Home Challenge
If you’re part of our 52 Weeks to a Simplified and Organized Home Challenge, we’re completing Week 7 Establishing a Solid Nightly Routine & 15 Minute Clutter Catcher and looking forward to Week 8 establishing a solid cleaning schedule.
Cleaning schedules are great because they can be completely customized to meet your needs. Most people I know don’t have an entire day to devote to cleaning, but they do have an extra 15 or 30 minutes to clean something every day.
Take a look at your family’s calendar and assign a specific cleaning task to each day of the week – dust, vacuum bedrooms, kitchen, bathrooms, mop floors, linens/laundry, meal planning/grocery shopping.
Next, commit to keeping up with these daily tasks – make your bed, load/unload dishwasher, wipe down counters & sinks, take out trash, 15-minute clutter catcher – so daily messes don’t pile up and become overwhelming.
I hope you all have a peace filled and happy weekend. We have a busy weekend planned as we’ll be traveling to the Extravaganza on Friday, to celebrate Valentine’s Day with my extended family with a party in our hometown on Saturday and hopefully, if S is feeling better, we’ll be back home to celebrate Galentine’s Day on Sunday.
Speaking of Galentines, sending love and big hugs to our sweet friend Patty who has been a long-time friend of TCG! Happy Birthday Patty, we hope your day is as special as you are ?
Whatever you have planned we hope it’s something you’re excited about. We can’t wait to see you back here on Monday. We have SO many projects we’re working on right now! Until next time, I’ll see you on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.
Many blessings,
CoCo
Another great week Coco. I cant wait to see what you find treasure hunting and I’m glad you’re on the mend. Happy weekend
Thank you so much, Bonnie, I appreciate you! Hugs, CoCo
I love the countryside home and kitchen.
They were so bright and cheerful. I hope you both get well soon.
Those were two of my favorites from this week too, Lizzy! They were definitely dreamy spaces for sure. Thanks so much for your sweet get well messages. We’re getting a little better each day. Hugs, CoCo
Hi CoCo! So sorry y’all are still trying to shake that nasty bug! But I’m very happy to hear that S is making progress! Baby steps, you know? Hang in there! Love that armoire with the duck on top! Also that little nightstand.? You’re making over. Don’t even gett me started on all your plants on the front porch, too cute! We live out on a point Smack dab in the middle of a sandhill crane reserve, so we’re surrounded by marsh, Spanish moss and all the banana plants my partner has planted. He’s got a wicked green thumb! So it looks like a jungle around our pool, literally, lol! Just a couple more weeks and our spring will be here and I can’t wait! I’ve got cabin fever bad! Hope you and S have a great Valentine’s Day whenever you decide to celebrate it. Thanks for the post even though you’re not feeling great. Get well soon and have a great weekend! ?.
Thank you, Shelia! I’m hoping this week will be the last of the “coastal crud.” I think part of our problem is the pollen in Florida right now is all over everything. I am itching to get some new plants in the ground and to fix up our porch for the spring season too. Plants always make me feel better so your outdoor pool area sounds gorgeous! I hope you guys had a fabulous weekend and had lots of fun celebrating Valentine’s Day. Hugs, CoCo PS: S will say thank you for all your sweet thoughts and prayers on her recovery. The PT has really helped. She swears she will be ready to ditch the crutches completely by March 🙂
Hey CoCo – please give S our very best hugs, love, high-fives and fist-pumps to being wheelchair free! We know all too well what a significant step this is!! Love your resort collection…maybe it’s the blue and white vibe LOL. Also – we have the pair of prints that you are using for your dining room makeover – great minds think alike! Have a fabulous weekend. Much love!
I will totally give S a high five from you guys and she will in turn say thank you! It’s been a long 18 weeks but we are steadily making progress each day. So many people are either in Florida right now or are traveling to Florida right now so the resort collection seemed like a fun thing to try and put together. I love botanical prints so much. They’re always a classic. Big hugs for you both, CoCo
