From the Front Porch

Happy Thursday from the front porch you guys! As I write this at lunch on Wednesday, I see so many of you are gearing up for winter storms and snow again.  I hope you’re able to stay warm and cozy over the next few days.

How was your week?

This week was filled with so many distractions for us. It has hasn’t been a bad week per se, just one of those weeks where the things we had scheduled didn’t turn out the way we thought they would, so we had to pivot a lot more than we had planned.

Have you guys ever had one of those weeks?

Truthfully, it all started when I finished sewing and installing the curtains for the dining room.  I’ve had the antelope print fabric for probably six months now and I swore, that I swore, that I swore, I was going to LOVE them in the dining room.

And then I got them hung up and I don’t know…they’re as fabulous as I thought they would be especially from this view.  But I don’t know if they work with the current farmhouse style chairs and I think they might compete with the blue grey hues in the buffet and hutch a bit too. The rug also had a diamond pattern we’re working around so that could be it as well.

I tend to do this right at the end of every makeover so naturally, S told me to just give it a few days.  I’ll be honest though, it’s totally throwing me off.

I’m embarrassed to tell you how many hours I’ve spent looking for “back up” fabric. I’ve tried a wheat colored buffalo check, a ditsy farmhouse print flower, a toile, so many different plaids and stripes…you name it I’ve searched for it! And because one thing leads to another, the fabric decision affects the art decision, which affects the color of the chandelier shades.

If you see me on the streets and my curly hair has officially gone straight, you’ll know why ha ha ?

Scenes from our week…

Spring is popping up at all the big box stores so shop now for the best selection.  This is at Michaels…

and this is at Hobby Lobby…

I needed a few baskets to organize the hutch in the dining room, so I dropped by Marshalls and they were putting out gobs of new items including lots of pillows.

I know so many of you have pets that you love as family members and we feel that way about our Filbie and Jelly Bean too.  Jelly has been struggling with canine dementia for a while and I think I’ve shared with you how she wakes up every morning between 230a and 430a. She usually paces the floors for hours before she’s able to settle.

Anyway, one morning I got worried because I didn’t hear the pitter patter of her little feet and when I finally found her, she was curled up and sound asleep with her head resting on the bottom of the bookcase in the living room. She breaks my heart and makes me melt all at the same time.

52 Weeks to a Simplified & Organized Home Challenge

If you’re part of our 52 Weeks to a Simplified and Organized Home Challenge we’re completing Week 8 Establishing a Solid Cleaning Routine and we’re looking forward to Week 9, organizing the breakfast nook.

I hope you all have a peace filled and happy weekend.  After celebrating my baby sister’s birthday this week we’re headed back out of town on Saturday to celebrate my nephew’s birthday.

He’s turning 4 and when I asked him what he wanted for his birthday he told me he wanted canvases so he could “paint a masterpiece every day.”  He also asked for a bag to paint so he could, “carry candy around,” I guess he’s planning on his pockets being too full to hold anything else he he.

Whatever you have planned I hope it’s something you’re excited about too.  I can’t wait to see you back here on Monday. Until next time, I’ll see you on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.

Many blessings,

CoCo

  1. Another great week Coco. The spring design board is really cute. Also thanks for the healthy recipes. I cant wait to find out how you handle the dining room. I’m sure it will look great no matter what you decide.

    1. You’re sweet, Bonnie, thank you! I wound up ordering some different fabric for the curtains and the minute I hit send on the order I felt so much better. I think sometimes you just have to give yourself permission to change course even in the middle of a project. I appreciate your encouragement. Hugs, CoCo
