From the Front Porch: A Summer to Fall in Love
Hello from the front porch, sweet friends.
Welcome to the Summer to Fall in Love edition of this weekly series.
How are you?
Recently, I dusted off my sewing machine to work on a few projects.
I love to sew, but I’m very much a beginner.
In fact, there are times I still sew imperfect lines despite having all the tools to sew straight ones.
That said, every time I sit down to sew something in real life that I’ve had in my head for a while, I feel practically giddy.
And this time was no exception.
That feeling of trying something new and not being afraid to get it right the first time, seeing the quirks and appreciating them anyway, and being up for the challenge kind of excitement reminds me of falling in love.
So, I’m theming this season A Summer to Fall in Love.
A summer where we can feel like the best versions of ourselves…safe, confident, supported, accepted, growing, evolving, and becoming.
If your summers have previously been dedicated to caregiving or managing the expectations of others, and you feel like you’ve lost your creative mojo, let this season be the summer you fall in love with your home and find your spark again.
If there is a hobby you once loved as a child or one you let slip away because you got busy as an adult, let this be the summer you fall in love with that hobby again.
If you stand in your closet feeling like you have nothing to wear, let this season be the season you let go of what’s not working, create a capsule wardrobe, and fall in love with your closet again.
Maybe you’ve had some health challenges lately. Let this be the summer you fall in love with yourself – mind, body, and spirit.
If you wake up every morning overwhelmed with clutter, let this season be the season you give every. single. thing. in. your. house, a home, so you can put things away before you go to bed.
Maybe you want to fall in love with a big city or a cozy small town you’ve always wanted to visit.
Or craft a summer bucket list that is so epic you actually want to finish it.
Maybe you need to fall in love with those quiet dreams you’ve had for a while now, but just haven’t taken any action on yet.
No matter how you choose to spend your summer, let this season be a gentle reminder that you deserve joy.
So, take the time to embrace new adventures, rediscover your passions, and give yourself permission to fall in love with all the little things that make life beautiful.
As always, I’ll be cheering you on.
