Spring ORC: Master Bedroom Makeover

About this time last year, we embarked on a DIY and decorating adventure called the One Room Challenge hosted by Calling It Home. It was SO much work and yet SO much fun turning my office from this outdated space filled with thrifted finds and hand me down pieces…

into the beautiful and functional office of my dreams…

It was such a challenge to makeover this space in just 6 short weeks. Thankfully, Team Crowned Goat rallied all the way to the finish line. My dad built the bookcases, my bestie S built the work island, my mom helped to source many of the materials and helped to decorate for the final reveal. Honestly, I couldn’t have completed this project without their help. Most days at least one of us was covered in dirt, paint or sawdust. We ate way too much take out over those 6 weeks and every time we had a delay or change, I made a fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies to ease my worries. Don’t get me wrong, it was a ton of work but we learned so many new skills and we also learned how to work together more effectively as a team too. I’m definitely grateful for the experience because we had so much fun!

It’s in that same spirit we’ve decided to participate in the One Room Challenge again this year by making over a space that is WAY overdue…the master bedroom. This is the way the bedroom has looked for the past few years.

It’s not horrible, it’s just time to step it up. Here’s a peek at what we’re thinking…

I know! It’s going to be such a huge change. From painting the walls to ripping out the carpet this space is going to go through a total transformation. Here’s what we’re hoping to tackle in 6 weeks…

  • New Wall Color in Valspar’s City Chic
  • Crown Molding
  • Install Board and Batten
  • Caulk & Paint Board and Batten in Valspar’s Ultra White
  • Rip Out the Carpet
  • Paint and Stencil the Floor
  • Create a Lounge Inspired Seating Area
  • Relocate the Treadmill
  • Give Existing Furniture a New Stain
  • Update Furniture Hardware
  • Install Wall Sconces
  • Monogram New Linens
  • Shop for a Flax Duvet
  • Shop for New Sleeping Pillows
  • Shop for Decorative Pillows
  • Shop for New Wall Art
  • Add Jute Rug
  • Trim/Frame Out the Windows
  • Raise Existing Curtain Rods
  • Buy Blackout Curtains in White
  • Rethink Existing Blinds
  • Add Media Cabinet or Desk
  • Change Out Mirror
  • Rethink Fan or Chandelier
  • Add Decorative Accents (Vintage books, suitcases, grandpa’s pipe)
  • Add Plants

It’s going to take all hands on deck to get this space finished especially since we’re also currently in the midst of this mess in our home office…

Yikes, I already have the chocolate chip cookies in the oven ha ha! Thankfully, all members of Team Crowned Goat are back on board and we’re going to have a blast.

See you guys back here tomorrow. I’ll share a peek of what we’ve been up to this week and all of our favorite finds from around the web.  Until next time, I’ll see you on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.

Many blessings,

CoCo

    1. Thanks so much Nicole! Stenciling the floors is probably the thing I’m most nervous about because I’ve never tried it before. We’ve painted a checkerboard pattern on the floor of the laundry room but this stencil is going to be next level ha ha! Hugs, CoCo
