From the Front Porch: Festive Easter Ideas
Last week, my bestie S and I decided to have a picnic.
It had been a long day and a spontaneous trip to the beach seemed to be exactly what we needed to relax.
So, I grabbed the picnic basket, a blanket and headed to the grocery store to pick up a few ready-made supplies.
When we got to the beach, we realized it was a red flag day.
And while that wasn’t entirely convenient given the high winds and rough surf, we had no plans to go in the water anyway, so we simply set up our picnic and settled in.
After we finished eating, we decided to have a friendly, “best beach discovery” competition so we each headed in a different direction.
Along the way, I saw all sorts of fun things from sandpipers and laughing gulls, to shells and crabs, to cargo ships and crashing waves all while tanned fisherman caught silvery fish.
As I was walking back toward the picnic blanket, I saw a familiar shape in the distance holding a purple mylar balloon and knew immediately it was S.
When she finally reached the blanket, I grinned and said, “Is that your best beach discovery or are you cleaning up?”
“You know I’m cleaning up and I wish other people would too. This is really dangerous for the birds and the marine life. And it’s such an easy fix too!” she said passionately.
Truth be told, her passion for the environment and wildlife issues has been long-standing for decades.
But we don’t have to wait decades for something we’re passionate about to become part of our identity.
The power of reinvention is available to us at any time.
Think Vivian Ward in Pretty Woman, Mia Thermopolis in The Princess Diaries, Sandy in Grease or Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady.
And since our identity influences our thoughts, beliefs and our actions, we can begin an intentional transformation any time we’re ready.
So, as we ease into the second quarter, think about how you can refresh, reinvent or renovate something that’s important to you.
As always, I’ll be cheering you on.

So many awesome links!! 🤯 I’m so glad there are people like S in the world. I wholeheartedly support her views. THANK YOU for sharing my bunny clips post. Wishing you a lovely weekend.
What a great message! I never realized how dangerous trash could be until I saw a seagull with fishing line tangled around its leg last year at the beach. It was so sad, but no one could help it, because he could still fly. As soon as you even got close, he would fly away. 😢
The pillow you shared is great! I have had neck issues since last September, and the pillow seems to be helping.
Have a great time off this week! Enjoy your time.
Thank you for sharing my carrot favors Coco!
I have made a tea and am going to sit and drink it while I check out all of your links.
I hope that you have a blessed Easter.
