DIY Gold Frame Wall Calendar
We’re sharing a DIY Gold Frame Wall Calendar today!
Any time our schedule starts to feel overwhelming, the first thing I do is pull out our planner to see if there’s anything we can change, rearrange, offload, or completely cut out.
While that might seem like a small (and obvious) thing to do, it can wind up being one of the biggest gifts we give ourselves during busy or especially tough seasons.
A Zoom Call with Jenna Kutcher…
Several weeks ago, I was on a Zoom call with Jenna Kutcher and more than 200 other people.
After a short introduction, she said, “Hold your hand out so I can see it. I want you to put all five fingers up in the air if you can.”
“Now, I want you to put one finger down for every question I ask if this sounds like something you can relate to.”
“This is a judgment-free zone, so be honest.”
With our 5 fingers up in the air, she began.
“How many of you feel disconnected from your job and other interests?” Jenna said as nearly every person on my page nodded and put one finger down.
“How many of you have stopped your routines?” she followed
Again, there was lots of nodding and people putting a second finger down.
“What about brain fog?” Jenna asked.
Gah – now most of us had only two fingers up!
By the time she finished the rest of the questions, Jenna had walked us through the 5 most common signs of burnout.
To my complete surprise, there were very few fingers left in the air.
It was eye-opening, to say the least, because nearly every time I open up my IG feed, it looks like everyone is living the good life.
A Gifted Wall Calendar…
That Zoom call experience felt like a wake-up call. Especially, given everything we’ve been through lately,
I’ve been trying to figure out how we can incorporate more fun into our schedules this summer. So, I was tickled pink when my Mom gifted me this large wall calendar.
It has plenty of space to write in and I love the way it’s broken down by month, week, and day. It’s so nice to be able to see everything on one board!
The only drawback is that the frame is white and since I have white walls, I knew immediately it would get lost.
Thankfully, it was an easy fix.
Here’s a look at our DIY Gold Frame Wall Calendar…

- Framed Wall Calendar (Mine came from Michaels but it’s out of stock online)
- Design Master Colortool Spray Paint in Brilliant Gold, similar
- Kraft Paper (try your local craft supply store for a less expensive option)
- Painter’s Tape (look for single packs at your local home improvement store)
- Scissors
- Tape Measure
DIY Gold Fame Wall Calendar Steps:
Measure the inside of your wall calendar using a tape measure.
Then using caution and care as scissors will be sharp, cut the kraft paper to size.
Secure the kraft paper to the wall calendar with painter’s tape.
I’ll show you why below, but just a heads up, be extra careful as you’re taping the edges.
Once the kraft paper and tape have been secured to the calendar, spray paint the edges of the frame with gold spray paint.
Keep in mind, there are a variety of shades available at most craft supply stores. I used Design Master Colortool Spray Paint in Brilliant Gold. We found it at Michaels.
It took 2 full coats of spray paint to get good coverage. But once it was finished, our DIY gold frame wall calendar looked completely different!
If for some reason you get a bit of overspray on your wall calendar, do your best to wipe it off before the paint sets in.
Truthfully, I was slightly panicked when I lifted the kraft paper and tape to see overspray. After some extra rubbing though, I was able to get the paint off completely.
Creating an Office Nook in a Bedroom…
While my primary office is usually at The Crowned Goat Cottage since we’ve welcomed our sweet rescue Piper who has some anxiety and behavior challenges into our home, I’ve had to create an office nook in nearly every bedroom of the house.
Piper loves the office space in this room because she can lay on the bed and see outside.
Plus, she can hide under the desk chair any time she’s struggling which feels like a win-win since it’s easier for me to keep an eye on her.
I know there can be a lot of changes from one season to the next. So, if you have a lot going on and want to keep yourself, your business, or your family organized this DIY gold frame wall calendar has been a huge help for us already.
Bonus, you don’t have to have a designated office space to enjoy it either. You can easily place this DIY gold frame wall calendar in a bedroom, mudroom, laundry room, craft room, library, or entry space.
As I shared above, I’ve been looking for easy ways to incorporate more fun into our schedules this summer. It’s going to take being fully intentional to pull it off, but we’re committed to making it happen.
Most importantly, I hope you are too!

Hi Coco, I love the gold frame for your calendar it gave it new life. I also love the framed picture you have of our Queen, I have the very same picture somewhere and have been rummaging through boxes trying to find her before the jubilee celebrations, it was my mums so I know it would never be thrown out, wish me luck will you.
Thanks again for a lovely post.xx
That is so cool we have the same picture of the Queen, Janette! I can’t believe the Jubilee is coming up in just a few short weeks and we’ll be witnessing history. I definitely hope you can find it. It sounds like it is such a treasure, especially since it belonged to your Mum. Big hugs, CoCo
LOVE the picture of the queen in your office space. I am from Canada, so she is our queen. She is celebrating 70 years of being on the throne this year. Quite an accomplishment.
Blessings.
70 years is so exciting, Pamela! One of my sweet uncles had a rich love of history and would frequently regale us with all sorts of stories about the kinds of leadership roles and impacts women made throughout history all over the world. His wife was British so the queen always had a special place in his heart for her. When he died I hung her picture up as a reminder of how special he made us feel. Hope your day is filled with all good things. I can’t believe we’ll be witnessing history in a few weeks – CoCo
This looks great and so simple.
I hope you have fun and some relaxing days this summer
Piper under your chair us adorable. I feel bad she still has anxiety.
Our Reeses us like that too. We feel bad that after 12 years he doesn’t relax.
I appreciate it, Cindy, thank you! I LOVE my paper planner but I’ve been so excited to see how much this calendar has helped us already. It’s been a game-changer. Thanks so much for your sweet words about Piper. She’s a wild lady but we are finally getting her the help she needs. I need to do an entire post on what it’s like to live with a dog that has been diagnosed with anxiety and OCD. They’re sending us about 3-4 hours away from our home to get her additional behavioral healthy training so fingers crossed it goes well. She’s so sweet, I hate to see her struggle in any way and I know you feel the same about Reeses. Sending you both lots of hugs, CoCo
What a beautiful calendar, CoCo! I love the idea of scheduling more fun into this Summer!
Thank you so much, Heidi! I swear nothing fills up more quickly than a calendar you haven’t taken charge of so we’re bound and determined to fill it with lots of fun things this summer. Hope you are too! Hugs, CoCo

Hugs,
Deb
I really appreciate it, Deb, thanks so much! Hope your week is filled with all good things, CoCo
Isn’t it amazing what a can of spray paint can do! The gold looks wonderful! Have fun using your new planner! Such a great gift! One of our dogs has developed anxiety in their old age! Sorry to hear Piper suffers from it as well! Blessings, Donna
Spray paint is such a gift, Donna! I know how much you appreciate being organized so you know I’m crazy about getting to use this calendar each day. Our sweet Piper – I don’t even know what to say about her sometimes. She needs so much love and extra attention. She’s on a new medication now so we’re hoping it helps. Sending you lots of hugs as you pet-parent your senior dogs. They are daily blessings but I know it’s not always easy. It’s worth it though – CoCo
CoCo,
I love Love this idea. I really need to be more visual in my organization. This is in my future. Thanks so much for sharing.
You are so welcome, Rachel! I’ve only had the calendar for a few weeks but it’s already helped me more than I could have imagined. I love my paper calendar but my desk isn’t big enough for me to use my laptop and my paper calendar at the same. Now all I have to do is look up and it’s right there on the wall which is nice. Plus the calendar is lightweight so it’s not a struggle to put back on the wall if I need to take it down or wipe it off. Hope you have the best week, CoCo
The gold paint really made a difference CoCo. When you showed the before and after, it was like, wowsers. I find everyone around me with calendars, and appts programmed into their phones, and yet, I cannot seem to get on board. Not sure why, other than I must be a rebel. ha! Kidding of course.
