Simple Flower Pumpkin DIY

We’re sharing a simple flower pumpkin DIY today!

As some of you know, we’ve been recovering from COVID and Strep recently. I was definitely one of those people who thought I’d be out and about again after a week.

Three weeks in we’re still trying to find our footing though.

I’ll be honest, in the beginning, it really bothered me because I feel my best when I’m fully present and productive.

Especially, during busy seasons.

But as the days and weeks have progressed, I’ve come to see the slower pace and extra time at home as a true gift.

So, over the weekend, I started pulling together simple fall vignette ideas and crafting again.

It felt really good to have something small to look forward to so I thought I would share this simple flower pumpkin DIY in case you’re in a busy season of life or are recovering from an unexpected illness and need something to look forward to as well.

Here’s a look at a simple flower pumpkin DIY…

Simple Flower Pumpkin DIY Supplies:

  • Faux pumpkin or gourd
  • Flower embellishments (we found these at Michaels and used 2 packs)
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Hot Glue Sticks
  • Tarp (to protect your work surface)

Simple Flower Pumpkin DIY Steps:

Gather your supplies and make sure your workstation is free from dirt and debris.

When you’re picking out a pumpkin for this project, you’ll want to make sure the surface is somewhat flat.

As your glue gun is heating up, play around with different design ideas and color combinations.

Once you’re ready, place a small dot of hot glue on the back of your flower embellishment.

Keep in mind, that both the glue gun and the glue will be hot. So, be sure to use caution and care when doing this step.

After you have placed the dot of glue on the back of your flower, gently secure it onto the pumpkin.

Continue to glue and place the flower embellishments on your pumpkin, until you have the desired look you’re after.

We used the seams of the pumpkin as our guide to keep things easy.

This pumpkin is fairly large.

So, it took about 2 packs of flower embellishments to complete this simple flower pumpkin DIY.

Creating an Easy Breakfast Nook Centerpiece…

After you have your flowers secured and in place, you can style your flower pumpkin any way you like.

We’re keeping things super easy this year.

So, we decided to use this pumpkin as our breakfast nook centerpiece.

To create a similar look, place a large tray on your breakfast nook table.

Then place your simple flower pumpkin on top of the tray.

Next, add springs of greenery around the base of the pumpkin.

If you don’t have access to greenery, consider using store-bought greenery, a festive garland, or faux floral picks.

Tuck the greenery sprigs around the pumpkin until the base of the tray is full.

Caution and Care…

Keep in mind, this simple flower pumpkin DIY should not be left in a spot where curious littles or mischievous pets have access to it as several of the pieces could become a choking hazard.

Also, if you plan to use greenery from your yard make sure it’s free from pests before you bring it inside!

How Long Does This Project Take…

One of the things I love most about projects like these is that they can be completed in an afternoon provided you have all the supplies.

The simple flower pumpkin took around 20 minutes, and the centerpiece took around 10 minutes.

If you’re using store-bought greenery, a garland, or faux floral picks it will take you even less time.

It just might become our new norm.

Let us know what you’re creating this season! Until next time, I’ll see you on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.
