This Week’s Tip Sheet: Ideas for Tidy Office Closets, Cabinets and Drawers
Hello beautiful friends and welcome to Week 19 of the Simplified and Organized Home Challenge.
This week we’re working on guest room or home office cabinet, drawer organization and closet organization.
As I shared in last week’s Tip Sheet, I know a lot of us have undergone big work transitions this year.
And it can be hard to keep up with everything.
Especially, if your company has created a new work environment or schedule, you’re going back into the office full time, have a hybrid work situation or will be working from home during specific seasons as a caregiver or during school breaks.
No matter what your situation, one of the best things you can do for yourself is to keep your office space clean, clutter-free and well organized.
It will help you to focus on the tasks at hand with peace and purpose.
Now, on to this week’s Tip Sheet!

This Week’s Tip Sheet…
Quote of the Week:
“When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.” ~Paula Coelho
This Week’s Big To-Do’s:
- Declutter and Organize Guest Room or Home Office Cabinets, Drawers and Closets
- Prepare for Mother’s Day
- Commemorate Cinco de Mayo
- Bring a Friend, Family Member, Neighbor or Coworker a Cupcake
- Celebrate a Dog Mom
- Visit a Public Garden
This Week’s Tidy Tip:
- Start and end your day with a morning and evening routine. It will help create boundaries around your workday and will bookend your day on your terms.
- If you’re working from home create an environment that feels cozy.
- If you’re working from an office, create an environment that empowers you.
- Use a desktop organizer to help organize the supplies you use every day.
- Use drawer dividers to help organize the supplies you use weekly or monthly or extra supplies you want to keep handy.
- Create an office command center.
- Add a wall calendar to your office so you can have a macro view of the month, quarter or year.
- Fill a bulletin board in your office with motivating images or quotes or to help give you more vertical storage space.
- Use a dry erase board to help you quickly jot down ideas.
- Use tools that will help you keep your cords out of the way and organized.
- Consider creating themes for your days.
- Keep your office closet neat and tidy by using baskets, bins, or boxes.
- Make sure everything is clearly labeled so it will be easy to access.
- Don’t overstuff your drawers.
- Find a digital organization system that is easy to navigate and maintain.
- Use a paper filing cabinet system as needed. Some cabinets are so small and compact they can fit under your desk or in an office closet.
- Create extra storage by installing a shelving system in your office or office closet or by using a craft cart.
- Find task and productivity apps you enjoy that will help you stay on track or use a paper calendar that motivates you.
Wellness Tip:
Creating time for wellness, no matter if you’re working from home or at the office, can feel like one more thing you have to add to your already growing to do list but it’s so important.
So, remember to…
- Take breaks when you can.
- Go outside for fresh air, even if it’s for 5 minutes.
- Add plants or flowers to your office space.
- Find ways to help mitigate stress with meditation, mindfulness, breathing techniques, calming music, knowing your triggers, or by using fidget toys, squeeze balls or Newton’s Cradle.
- Develop and maintain close work relationships.
- Get plenty of sleep.
- Nourish your body well and stay hydrated.
- Find organization systems that work for the way you organize and learn.
- Use strategies that help with work life balance, blend and integration.
- Set boundaries.
- Seek help when you need it.
As always, I hope this week’s Tip Sheet has helped.
Until next time, I’ll see you on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.Cheering you on as you work to create spaces that offer purpose and productivity,
CoCo

I love your tips for creating a more organized office space. Awhile back I took a photo of my home office and was able to see it in a completely different way. I couldn’t believe all of the clutter I had gotten used to. By removing the clutter and creating a clean working space, I feel so much less stressed while working and even feel more creative, too!
I love that tip, Heidi! It never ceases to amaze me how differently we see things once we’ve taken a picture of them. I that technique all the time for decorating, especially when reconfiguring a space, but I never thought about using it to help with organizing. Totally genius! Sending you hugs, CoCo
This is such timely information! I just moved into my She Shed office, and I am loving it. However, the study inside the house is quite a mess! This week’s tip sheet is perfect inspiration for me! Thank you!
So excited you’ll be able to use these ideas in your She Shed Office, Susan! Sometimes organizing takes a little time, creativity and effort but once it’s done it feels amazing. Cheering you on as you make the transition! Hugs, CoCo
I look forward to both of your emails every week. So many tips to create a calming home and environment. Thanks again for the weekly ideas and encouragement.
Since my office doubles as my craft space, it can get messy quickly! Thanks for all the great tips to keep it clutter-free! At the end of my day, I need to add a pick-up strategy for a few minutes, and it would be much tidier! Thanks again for your encouragement!
