While we were waiting on my dad to finish the farm table for the dining room at Loblolly, my mom and I got to work on another set of chairs. We’ve used varied colors of chalk paint on almost all of the painted pieces throughout the house and we wanted something with a totally different finish. The budget for Loblolly has been largely used for construction issues, roofing concerns, new appliances and flooring. We’ve had to get really creative with the pieces we’re bringing in to keep the French Country look my mom is after. I can’t believe we’re at the end of our first full week of a new year. It was so nice to be able to get away for a few weeks over the holidays and really concentrate on the goals that I want to achieve for this year. When I look back on my home goals from last year, I’m totally excited about all we accomplished. Back in November my mom and I were on our way to Renningers in search of a few accessories, chandeliers and a dresser for Loblolly Manor. It’s about a 3 hour drive which naturally gave us plenty of time to catch up. While the conversation jumped from one topic to the next, we kept circling back to one issue in particular….2015 was flying by at warp speed.
One topic that keeps coming up with my family is how to store everything we’ve been baking this holiday season. We’ve definitely gone through our fair share of cookies. We needed something that would well but we also wanted a way to personalize our cookie containers. You may have passed up cookie or popcorn tins at your local thrift store but we’ve found a way to give them new life.
The kitchen is really a workhorse for us during this time of year as we stock up on hearty soups, dinner party fixins and bake lots of goodies.
