I lobbied hard for a color of grout named Bone but in the end we chose Alabaster. It was supposed to be a pale gray that I think is going to look really nice given we have black granite countertops, maple cabinets and a wall colored aptly named Cream in My Coffee.
One of my home goals this year was to finish the kitchen. There’s wasn’t a major renovation planned just a few updates one of them being adding a backsplash. It didn’t take us very long to decide we wanted to use white subway tile in a basket weave pattern. But we struggled for months to find the time to actually complete the project. I knew I had to get an action plan together including a timeline. I gave myself until the end of February to finish the task and called my bestie S to the rescue.

I swear I feel I was JUST saying, Goodbye January, Hello February and yet here I am saying Goodbye February, Hello March.
I bought this dry sink over the Christmas break and I needed to get it into the booth quickly so I didn’t have a chance to share the entire process with you. I painted it with my own version of homemade chalk paint in one of my favorite colors by Valspar called Lambs Wool. It’s a very soft and neutral color.

There is only one thing I find more frustrating than shopping for jeans or a bathing suit and that’s shopping for a rug. Most of the rugs in this house have been moved around more times than I can count.
The Thursday before last, I spent the day shopping at an estate sale with my mom. We found a few smalls and two pieces of furniture. I painted this dresser and mirror a makeover in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint French Linen. The smalls I found are amazing. This sale was one of the best they’ve ever had but the competition was fierce.

With Valentine’s Day tomorrow, I could not imagine a more fitting post than this one with wife, mother, author and friend Kimberly Clair. She helped me celebrate Valentine’s Day last year and since it was such a big hit, I asked her if she would come back for an update and she said yes!
It’s been one of my February baking goals to learn to make scones. S goes to Starbucks almost every morning on the way to work and without fail I am regaled with tales of their Cranberry and Orange Scones.
