DIY Framed Butterfly Décor for a Magical, Moonlit Halloween
We’re sharing how to make DIY Framed Butterfly Décor for Halloween today!
There’s something about Halloween that makes me want to create little pieces of magic for the season.
Not the spooky kind — more of a soft, whimsical, moonlit charm that feels like stepping into a tiny fairy garden at night.
This year, that magic came in the form of a simple DIY framed butterfly.
It’s delicate, budget‑friendly, and so easy to make.
But it adds the prettiest touch of October enchantment to any shelf or wall.
If you’re looking for a quick craft that feels special without being complicated, this one is such a sweet place to start.
Here’s a look at how to make DIY Framed Butterfly Décor for Halloween.

DIY Framed Butterfly Decor for Halloween…
Framed Butterfly Supplies:
- Small Picture Frame
- Cardstock
- Faux Butterfly
- Glue
Framed Butterfly Steps:
Gather your supplies.
I found this frame at a local thrift store.
But you can probably find something similar at dollar stores or big box craft stores.
You might even have something like this in your garage or craft stash already.

Next, using caution and care, as glass will be sharp, remove the backing of your frame.

Then add a piece of festive cardstock under the glass.

Use a strong adhesive glue to attach the butterfly directly to the glass of your picture frame.
You could also use a snake, beetle, or a spider.
Be sure to read all the manufacturer’s instructions on the glue you choose before completing this step.

Allow the butterfly to dry completely.

Then add this framed butterfly Halloween décor to a festive vignette, mantel, or bookcase.
I’m going to gift this one in a Blind Date with a Book Boo Basket.
