From the Front Porch

Happy Friday from the front porch. I hope your week has been richly blessed with unexpected surprises.

My Mom was out here yesterday helping me work on the shed makeover and guest bedroom refresh. We still have a ways to go with everything but we made tons of progress and I’m heading into the weekend feeling beyond grateful for her help.

On a side note, the littles talked my parents into having their annual Halloween party and I couldn’t be more excited about it. My Dad said he was dressing up as a blogger this year ?

I’m normally not a big Halloween person but it’s always fun to dress up, eat festive foods and watch how excited the littles get to carve pumpkins and play Halloween games.

My parents will probably keep it super simple with a soup buffet, yummy sandwiches, a Fall inspired salad, and of course plenty of sweet treats since everything is last minute.

I’m looking forward to seeing how it all comes together!

While it wasn’t involved enough for a full blog post, I wanted to share this quick and easy potions, brews, and spells book I made for the party.

I basically just picked up a book from the thrift store, a set of letters from the craft store, and some faux spider webs to create it all.

Honestly, it took less than 5 minutes to make so if you need a last-minute quick, and easy Halloween decoration this is it!

  1. WOW! You are a busy lady, CoCo! How nice to have some help from your mom! You annual Halloween party sounds so fun! Glad the littles were able to talk your folks into doing it! I’m sure it will be just what you all need! Good luck with your projects! I can’t wait to see it all come together! Happy weekend! Hugs!

    1. I tell you, Christine, those littles seem to be able to talk my parents into doing all sorts of things ha ha. We still have a ton of work in the shed and inside to do but along and along we’re making it. I’m taking any sign of progress as a win at this point including the Halloween party 🙂 Hope your weekend is filled with unexpected gifts, CoCo

  2. Wonderful having help from your mom. I miss doing things with my mom. Losing her at 26 I feel cheated in my adult life. It was time where I was able to spoil her.

Anyway, your book is cute. Happy your having your parents Halloween party.

    1. Wow, Cindy, 26 is way too young to lose your Mom, I’m so sorry you even had to go through it. I feel cheated for you too because I know how special you are and I know she must have been a special lady as well. This pandemic has not been easy by any means but it has presented all of us with the opportunity to show up for each other in ways I don’t think we would have taken the time to do otherwise. Sending you lots of hugs and thank yous for all your encouragement. It’s kept me going on some pretty wild days, CoCo

  3. That is so hilarious that your dad is going to dress up as a blogger! I hope you have so much fun with your family this weekend!!

    1. Oh my word, Heidi, I cannot even imagine what my Dad would even look like as a blogger. When I asked him what he thought bloggers wore he said, “fuzzy slippers, sweatsuits and probably carries around a big bags of skin care products” which made me almost spit out my drink. I might have to teach him the difference between bloggers and influencers before Halloween 🙂 Big hugs, CoCo
