From the Front Porch: October Magic

Happy Thursday, from the front porch and welcome to the October Magic Edition of this weekly series.

How has your week been?

I hope it’s been filled with good surprises.

After months of wet and rainy weather and a wild hurricane season, it’s been sunny and a little chilly all week on the island which feels like the biggest blessing.

My parents were incredibly kind to help us take down another damaged tree, clean up debris in the yard, cut wood for winter, and install a fence for Piper.

I don’t think she’s going to stay in there because she’s already trying to dig out.

But, I’m hopeful she’ll at least have a fun place to explore and eventually we’ll have a nice place to relax on the patio too.

In addition, I started reading The Plan by Kendra Adachi (it’s good but I would probably read The Lazy Genius Way first if you haven’t read it yet), started a new budget friendly skincare routine (the purple Cerave Skin Renewing line), and ordered my costume for our family’s annual Spooky Soiree (fingers crossed it fits.)

We weren’t 100% sure we were even going to have it this year after dealing with all the hurricanes.

In the end though, we decided we needed something festive to look forward to and I’m excited to relax and celebrate Spooky Season with my people.

Truthfully, it doesn’t feel like we’ve had much of a summer or fall season this year so I’m going to soak in every minute of the time we have left and make as many memories as possible.

Whatever you have planned, I hope your weekend is all that you need it to be.

  1. WOW! You are a busy lady, CoCo! How nice to have some help from your mom! You annual Halloween party sounds so fun! Glad the littles were able to talk your folks into doing it! I’m sure it will be just what you all need! Good luck with your projects! I can’t wait to see it all come together! Happy weekend! Hugs!

    1. I tell you, Christine, those littles seem to be able to talk my parents into doing all sorts of things ha ha. We still have a ton of work in the shed and inside to do but along and along we’re making it. I’m taking any sign of progress as a win at this point including the Halloween party 🙂 Hope your weekend is filled with unexpected gifts, CoCo

  2. Wonderful having help from your mom. I miss doing things with my mom. Losing her at 26 I feel cheated in my adult life. It was time where I was able to spoil her.

Anyway, your book is cute. Happy your having your parents Halloween party.

    1. Wow, Cindy, 26 is way too young to lose your Mom, I’m so sorry you even had to go through it. I feel cheated for you too because I know how special you are and I know she must have been a special lady as well. This pandemic has not been easy by any means but it has presented all of us with the opportunity to show up for each other in ways I don’t think we would have taken the time to do otherwise. Sending you lots of hugs and thank yous for all your encouragement. It’s kept me going on some pretty wild days, CoCo

  3. That is so hilarious that your dad is going to dress up as a blogger! I hope you have so much fun with your family this weekend!!

    1. Oh my word, Heidi, I cannot even imagine what my Dad would even look like as a blogger. When I asked him what he thought bloggers wore he said, “fuzzy slippers, sweatsuits and probably carries around a big bags of skin care products” which made me almost spit out my drink. I might have to teach him the difference between bloggers and influencers before Halloween 🙂 Big hugs, CoCo

  4. Hi Friend!
The fabulous weather has finally got me excited to decorate my front porch for “Falloween”! I’m so glad you all are going to have your Spooky Soiree. I hope you’ll share pictures of it. Sounds like such a fun time! Have a wonderful week!
    Blessings, Donna
