From the Front Porch: A Season of Clarity
Hello From the Front Porch, sweet friends.
Welcome to the Season of Clarity Edition of this weekly series.
How have you been?
This week we’ve had so much fun naming our season and creating a fall Bucket List that feels cozy and festive.
Yet still leaves plenty of room for lazy afternoons crafting, reading good books, and exploring places that celebrate the magic of autumn.
To keep things simple, I always begin by asking myself a few grounding questions.
The kind of questions that help me shape the season with intention rather than overwhelm.
For example:
- What do I want this season to look like?
- What do I want this season to smell like?
- What do I want this season to feel like?
- What do I want this season to taste like?
- What do I want this season to sound like?
Once I’ve named those things, planning becomes less about perfection and more about creating small moments that support the season I actually want to live.
And honestly?
It always surprises me how many of our fall traditions cost little to nothing.
They’re more about slowing down, savoring the moment, and rediscovering simple pleasures.
Here are a few of our favorites:
- Decorate the house for fall (you probably already have bins of décor waiting to be used)
- Buy a new fall mug (you can usually find them for under $10)
- Sip on a festive fall drink (also usually under $10)
- Read a cozy fall book (when is the last time you visited the library?)
- Listen to a fall‑inspired Nancy Meyers playlist (Spotify has really good ones)
- Watch a fall movie (free at home or under $20 depending on the time of day you go to the theater)
- Make a big pot of chili (double the batch to save time and money)
- Catch a football game (free on TV)
- Wear a cozy sweater (you probably already have one in your closet)
- Do an at‑home fall‑inspired mani/pedi (nail polish is often $15 or less)
- Refresh an old fall wreath with floral picks (they’re usually $5 or less)
- Light candles with dinner (taper candles are often $20 or less)
- Start a gratitude journal (you likely have an unused notebook tucked away in one of your drawers)
- Bake pumpkin bread (freeze the extra or share with friends)
- Open the windows for a crisp fall breeze (free)
- Take a slow walk to notice the changing leaves (free)
Always remember, fall doesn’t have to be expensive or elaborate to feel meaningful.
Sometimes the simplest traditions end up being the ones that shape the season the most.
So, take a few minutes to add some of these ideas to your calendar now.
That way, you’ll have something quick, easy, and budget-friendly to look forward to.
Wishing you a fall filled with simple joys, gentle rhythms, and moments that make the season feel truly yours.
