From the Front Porch
Happy Sunday from the front porch, you guys. Thanks so much for spending time with us today! It’s been another fun week here. Thankfully, we finally feel like we’ve been able to catch our breath after all the hurricane excitement from the past few weeks.
My goal this week was to get the house decorated and back in order so I could concentrate on creating a few Halloween decorations as a surprise for the littles.
I’m usually not one to decorate or even celebrate Halloween because we haven’t had any trick or treaters the entire time I’ve lived at Journey’s End.
That said, two of the littles L-O-V-E all things spooky and have been asking to decorate the house and buy their costumes since the summer ha ha.
We found a lot of cool things at the Dollar Tree of all places! They basically had everything from rubber rats to supplies for the curiosity cabinet to a jello brain mold. I can’t wait to see how they like everything!
TCG: Behind the Scenes
The week Hurricane Dorian was set to arrive, my brother in law picked up this dresser for my sister. She’s literally been wanting to give the dresser a makeover for YEARS and now that they’re making plans to build a house, she finally did it!
My sister’s style is boho chic and very different from my own. It’s great to collaborate with her because she’s always has a way of putting a creative slant on things. She basically wanted to tone down all the green and give the dresser a more modern feel.
This was this first time I had used Valspar’s Cabinet Enamel paint, so I was just a teensy bit nervous. We needed something that could withstand the move, a tween boy and not easily chip while being stored though. After reading a ton of reviews, this paint felt like the best option.
It’s supposed to be a “streak free” option but I don’t know if I chose the wrong brush or what…
In the end, it took 3 days to finish this beast due to a specific drying time. I painted it once and rolled it twice. I definitely need to use this product a few more times before recommending it though.
They were happy with how everything came together, which is what matters most anyway, right?
