Quick and Easy Pumpkin Diffuser
We’re sharing how to make a quick and easy pumpkin diffuser as we team up with some of our favorite ladies for the Pumpkin Palooza Pinterest Challenge Blog Hop hosted by the always creative Cindy of County Road 407.
If you’re coming over from Cindy’s blog welcome, we’re excited to have you here. Didn’t you love her DIY Pumpkin Candy Bowl? I can’t wait to make one too!
This month’s challenge was such a fun one because it was wide open as far as creativity goes.
Cindy sent our group this photo which gave us the freedom to craft anything related to pumpkins.
So, I decided to make a quick and easy pumpkin diffuser to help make the transition from summer to fall a deliciously cozy one.
At the beginning of each season, I look for a variety of ways to create a sensory experience in our home.
And one of the easiest ways to do that is by adding delightful scents with candles, citrus inspired simmer pots and fragrance or essential oils.
Of course, I love to decorate with pumpkins, cozy up with layers of texture and create seasonal meals as well.
But there’s just something about the intoxicating scent of Fall that immediately brings me back to the crunch of the leaves at the cabin, the smell of pecan pie in the oven and chilly nights spent wrapped up in blanket by the fire.
So, this year, I decided to kick off one my favorite seasons by making a quick and easy pumpkin diffuser with a carveable pumpkin.
That way, I can enjoy it throughout the entire Fall season and try new scents without having to store lots of candles.
Here’s a look at how to make a quick and easy pumpkin diffuser….
Quick and Easy Pumpkin Diffuser Supplies:
(Amazon affiliate links have been provided for your convenience. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases. Any sales made through such links will support us with a small commission at no extra cost to you. You can read our full disclosure policy here)
- Carveable Pumpkin (we bought this carveable foam pumpkin at Joanns)
- Pencil
- Carving Tools
- Drill
- Tarp
- Diffuser (have and love this one because it has a 30 minute option which is best for our needs)
- Fall Fragrance Oil Pack (have and love)
Quick and Easy Pumpkin Diffuser Steps:
Gather your supplies and lay a tarp down to protect your work surface.
Be sure to measure the size of your diffuser before purchasing your pumpkin.
Use a pencil to draw an outline around the top of your pumpkin.
Then using caution and care as carving tools will be sharp, cut around the top of your pumpkin.
Keep in mind, the hole in the top of your pumpkin should be big enough to easily place the diffuser inside.
It should also be big enough to take your diffuser out of the pumpkin with ease.
Once you’ve carved the pumpkin, set the lid aside.
Use a nail file or a piece of fine grit sandpaper to sand down the rough edges of your pumpkin.
Be sure not to leave any dust or debris inside your carved pumpkin.
Again, using caution and care as drill will be sharp, drill a hole for the diffuser’s cord in the back of your pumpkin.
Run the cord through the hole and connect it to your diffuser.
Prepare your diffuser as directed by the manufacturer’s instructions, and add your favorite Fall inspired essential or fragrance oils.
Things to Keep in Mind…
Keep in mind, your diffuser needs to sit flat inside the pumpkin as carvable pumpkins like these are flammable.
Do not leave unattended or allow the diffuser to run dry.
Be sure there is plenty of room for the fragrance and the mist to circulate.
This quick and easy pumpkin diffuser should only be used in a well-ventilated area and for a short period of time.
We run ours for about 30 minutes.
As always, it’s best to talk to your doctor and veterinarian about using diffusers in your home.
Consider Me Influenced…
Keep in mind, you don’t have to use this type of pumpkin to create a quick and easy pumpkin diffuser.
Brooke of Nesting with Grace made something similar using a metal Jack O Lantern pumpkin that would be so cute for Halloween.
And the team at Aromatics International carved real pumpkins for their diy pumpkin diffuser which would be perfect for my family’s annual spooky soiree!
For now, we’re excited to kick off the Fall season with this quick and easy pumpkin diffuser and fill our home with the delicious scents of the season.

Cocoa,
First let me say that I loved your email this morning. Such an uplifting and encouraging message. I loved it and needed it. We had a tree fall on our house in April and the projects and repairs keep lingering…it is making me anxious. But your message this morning put it all in perspective. THANK YOU!
Love this idea. I have never used a diffuser. Now I need to get one.
CoCo, what a lovely idea to turn this sweet pumpkin into a diffuser! I imagine it smells heavenly… I know I am ready for fall and have some pumpkin candles I love to pull out each year. I love how ethereal your pumpkin is, too, with its softly colored flowers and ribbons. Enjoy!
Coco, this is such a clever idea. I love using seasonal scents and this is a wonderful way to house a diffuser for fall!
This is so stinking creative, CoCo! I have a diffuser in our kitchen that screams for this project. The pumpkin that it is displayed with is absolutely stunning and so romantic! So ready for fall!!
Your pumpkin diffuser is so clever and creative, CoCo! I love fall scents and your pumpkin diffuser is such a festive way to enjoy them in your home!
This is such a clever idea CoCo, I have actually never seen anything like it before. I love the way you have staged the pumpkins around it, so beautiful, and romantic. I am ready to bring in fall, summer has long lost it’s luster with me. Enjoy those fall smells my friend.
First, I love the look of your pumpkin vignette. It’s so soft and feminine. I’ve never used a diffuser like this one but this is a great way to camouflage any type of scented diffuser. Thanks for the idea, Coco.
