From the Front Porch

Happy Friday from the front porch sweet friends and welcome to May. There’s so much to catch you up on!

Earlier this week, we celebrated the launch of my sister’s mobile store. In addition to working a full-time job and having a busy family life, she runs Kaion Boutique which started out as a side hustle.

While her big dream is to have a brick-and-mortar store one day, last year she bought an old Airstream we lovingly called the Manifestation Capsule so she could set up at pop-up shops and events.

My sister and brother-in-law basically worked on it nonstop for the entire year! Once they got it all gutted, my Dad came in and helped them build it into a fully shoppable mobile store.

Here are a few pictures from the event, it’s so stinking cute…

On Babies:

Speaking of cute, we have babies!

It’s hard to believe how quickly the baby birds are growing. They’re in such a precarious spot because they are dangerously close to our front door.

While we’ve been super careful going in and out of the house, I’m definitely worried about what’s going to happen when they start learning how to fly.

Especially, because we’re in and out of the house multiple times a day all day. Let me know if you have any advice!

On Rebounding:

Several of you have asked how the trampolining workouts are going and I have to say, I love them. I also found out it’s not called trampolining, it’s called rebounding. I had no idea it was an actual thing!

I’ll share more once I find a workout video series I like. Right now, I’m just sort of trying them all.

Currently Watching:

We don’t watch a lot of TV because our sweet rescue Piper is really overstimulated by moving pictures and sounds. I have been able to sneak in a few shows and a fabulous movie these past few months though, so I wanted to share.

The Last Thing He Told Me (TV-MA) is on Apple TV+ and it definitely makes you think about how well you really know someone. I don’t want to give any spoilers away but it’s a good one!

The Diplomat (TV-MA) on Netflix is a political drama that takes place in London. The house they live in is gorgeous and I love that the interior of the buildings is as much a character as the actual characters!

Where the Crawdads Sing (PG-13 CW: SV) on Netflix is based on a best-selling book about a girl who raises herself in the marsh and becomes a murder suspect. S is still talking about how the movie ended!

Chevalier (PG-13 in theaters now) is based on the true story of Joseph Bologne, a violin and fencing prodigy who rises up the ranks to become the Chevalier de Saint-Georges. As someone who listens to classical music every day, it was so cool to see his story come to life!

An Elegant Nail Polish:

Thanks to typing, painting, cleaning, and DIYing, I can be rough on my nails. Recently though, I found an elegant nail polish I love.

It’s a little expensive for nail polish (I’ll link it below) but it lasts longer than the other ones I’ve tried. Of course, nothing is perfect but if you’re in the market for something subtle this could be it.

Be sure to apply it in thin coats and allow plenty of drying time between each!

On the Coronation:

I know the coronation is all about King Charles but goodness gracious all I’ve been able to think about this week is Princess Diana.

Laura-Ann from All.Thats.Pretty and Elizabeth Holmes of So Many Thoughts are both in London if you want to follow along and this was an interesting podcast about the coronation details too.

That’s all for now!

We’re attending Cinco de Mayo festivities tonight, a coronation brunch tomorrow then running to the soccer fields to watch one of the littles play in the last game of the season, then heading back for a Derby get-together.  Thankfully, there will be plenty of time to snuggle up with Piper on Sunday after such a wild weekend, we’ll need it.

Whatever you have planned I hope it’s a special weekend for you too!

PS: Thank you for the London pictures, Mom

As I shared last week, I’ve been doing lots of research on morning routines while making tweaks to mine at home. It’s working out well so far and I’m excited to continue the journey.

If you’re ready to change your mornings, The Miracle Morning lays out a step-by-step actionable plan that is easy to follow.

I also read 5 AM Club which got great reviews, it just didn’t resonate as much as The Miracle Morning did. I wanted to include them both though so you could check them out for yourself.

    1. They are so sweet Susan! You can’t even see them as you’re looking at the front door. You actually have to stand inside the house. I’ll be sad to see them go but until them I’ll be praying daily they all make it out of the nest safely. Hugs and happy Friday, CoCo
