From the Front Porch: Goodbye February, Hello March

Hello, from the front porch, sweet friends.

Welcome to the Goodbye February, Hello March Edition of this weekly series.

Thanks so much for making us a part of your day!

Do you have anything exciting planned for March yet?

I can hardly believe we’re getting ready to welcome a new month.

February was a fun one.

We celebrated 4 birthdays, the Super Bowl, Galentine’s Day, Valentine’s Day, and had a blast at a friend’s party (sending you so much love J).

We cozied up by the fire and rewatched all the Bridget Jones movies including the last one which was fantastic, went to brunch nearly every Saturday and found a few new antique stores to explore.

I’m hoping to give two of the bedrooms and possibly the breakfast nook a refresh, so I’ve been searching for inspiration.

If you’re looking to create a timeless Nancy Meyers inspired interior too, you’ll love this video by designer Kristen McGowan.

She is one of my favorites on YouTube.

The chairs for one of the bedrooms arrived last week.

I just need to order a new rug, find some cool wall art, and settle on some curtains now.

In addition, we’ve been decluttering and organizing the kitchen, the pantry, the refrigerator and the freezer.

It feels so good to have everything neat and tidy again.

Finally, I’ve been looking for care package treats that can be easily shipped.

Some of you may remember we loved one of my aunts through breast cancer a few years ago.

Thanks to so many of your prayers, supportive medical care and lots of TLC, she’s in remission and doing well.

Around the holidays though, we found out my Mom’s other sister (the one who inspired this post) also has breast cancer.

So, we’ve been looking for special ways to lift her spirits.

She is such a great lady, and our family would be lost without her.

Although it’s been tough to process at times, I’ve been hanging on to this quote by Martin Luther King Jr…

“Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree.”

It reminds me we need to keep dreaming and acting, planting seeds of hope, creating beauty, and remaining faithful that one day something valuable will come from our difficult experiences.

Cheering you on and lifting you up no matter what you’re facing today.

  • Button Down (one of my girlfriends has this shirt in multiple colors and loves that it doesn’t easily wrinkle)
  • Purse (this purse is such a pretty shape)
  • Journal (have, love, and use the white one daily. The pages are thick and it also has a pocket in the back)
  • Tulips (have and love in the pink shade, they’ve held up for years)
  • Mirror (will probably have to get a mirror for the door because my closet is TINY but would have loved this version)
  • Jeans (love the pockets in the front of these jeans)
  • Necklaces (such an easy way to layer)
  • Book  (gifting this, I swear everything they do is magic)
  • Sneakers (recently ordered and will report back)
  • Pillow Covers (will probably order the brown and white but wanted to share how pretty they are in blue)
  • Puff Sleeve Shirt (easy to dress up or down, especially given the weather changes lately)
  • Cuff (comes in multiple colors and sizes)
  • Greenery Stems (cannot get over how real these look)
  • Flats (love that the bow makes these a little dressy)
  • Curtains (fingers crossed these to do the trick, it’s been hard to find the color we need)
  • Jeans (sent these to a friend after she had so much trouble finding “normal jeans for curvy girls”)

As always, we appreciate you more than you know, and we hope your weekend is peace-filled and relaxing.  We can’t wait to share even more with you next week!

Until next time, I’ll see you on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.

Many blessings,

CoCo

  4. Oh I’m so sorry about your aunt, CoCo! I used to bake cookies that were small enough to fit into a Pringles can – those travelled pretty well with the extra protection, although maybe you don’t want to send too much sugar. Nuts might be good! I’ll be sending love to all of you! Thanks so much for sharing my peach and blush tablescape – I’m so glad you liked it, and honored to be included! Take care!

  6. So many lovely ideas! I would love to make your salmon recipe. I clicked over to the March menu idea post and have clicked on a dozen recipes so far and can’t seem to find it. Do you have a direct link? It would help me so much.

    1. So sorry for the confusion, Laura. This is a salmon bowl we made without a recipe. It has quinoa, green beans, sweet potato and grilled salmon. The seasoning we usually use is called Everglades and sometimes we have Publix or Fresh Market add a bourbon glaze for us. Hope that helps! Hugs, CoCo
