How to Create a Simple Breakfast Station at Home

We’re sharing how to create a simple breakfast station at home today!

Lately, I’ve been really intentional about decluttering and reassessing certain areas of our home.

Like many of you, our schedule will change a lot this Fall.

So, I’m taking steps now to help mitigate pain points and problem areas.

You see, our sweet rescue Piper totally loses it the minute she sees something reflected on the ceiling.

It doesn’t matter whose home we’re at or what’s reflecting on the ceiling, she simply cannot handle it.

We’ve seen multiple doctors, tried countless behavior techniques and even saw a pet psychic to help ease her anxiety.

But nothing has worked so far.

So, as we continue to search for a long-term solution, we’ve also been searching for ways to help alleviate morning drama.

And one of the easiest ways we’ve found to make our mornings run more smoothly is by creating a simple breakfast station.

I know.

I didn’t think I needed a breakfast station either.

But now that we have one, I have to say, it’s amazing.

Bonus, it’s helped tamper Piper’s morning meltdowns a bit too.

Because there’s nothing that can derail an entire day faster than a morning meltdown!

Our Favorite Breakfast Supplies:

  • Toaster (we’ve been using the older model of this toaster for nearly 15 years)
  • Breadbox (have and love this metal breadbox, additional designs also available)
  • Breadboard
  • Butter Keeper (mine was a gift but this one looks similar)
  • Wooden Spreaders (have and love them so much we don’t mind handwashing)
  • Cups or Containers (to hold spreaders)
  • Overnight Oats Jars (have, love and use each week, they make breafast meal prep so easy)
  • Food Storage Containers (have, love and used for years)

Simple Breakfast Station Set Up:

First, find a space in your kitchen to set up your breakfast station.

We chose a space that’s close to the stove and small appliances cabinet just to make it easy.

Next, decide what needs to go in your breakfast station.

Given we usually eat a variety of toast and bagel combinations throughout the week, having a spot for bread and the toaster was a top priority.

So, I bought this breadbox and these wooden spreaders during the most recent Prime Day event, and we love them.

Using the wooden spreaders helps keep the knives we were previously using from reflecting on the ceiling.

And the breadbox helps us to keep the countertops decluttered.

Wooden Spreaders in a vintage cup

The butter keep was a gift from my baby sister.

The cup, pitcher and spoons are items I’ve found while out treasure hunting.

Enamel Butter Keep

As you know, with toast comes crumbs.

So, I set everything out on a wooden cutting board that belonged to my late Granny for easy clean up.

Finally, tweak as needed.

At any given time, we use this simple breakfast station area to prepare overnight oats, yogurt bowls, chia seed pudding, open faced breakfast sandwiches, and to plate veggie omelets.

One of the things that makes the process even easier is cutting up fruit and vegetables the night before then placing them in glass storage containers like the bento style boxes, I shared above.

That way, when you’re ready to add toppings to your overnight oats, yogurt bowl, chia seed pudding or make an omelet, you’ve already done a lot of the work!

Bagel with Salmon, Cream Cheese, Arugala, and Cucumber

All in all, this simple breakfast station has helped to mitigate some of the morning drama we’ve been dealing with these past few years.

And while I know it will evolve as our needs do, I’m happy to have found another a small change that makes a big impact in our daily lives.

I hope creating a simple breakfast station at home helps you too!

  1. Oh CoCo what we do for our furbabies. This isn’t only functional it’s pretty.

Love the bread box and that sweet pitcher. I think about the wooden spoons for charcuterie boards. Now I may have to get them.

    1. Thank you so much, Cindy, I really appreciate it. Adding the breadbox and the pitcher helped to save lots of space and the wooden spreaders have been amazing. We’ve used them with jams, avocado, and nut butter spreads and they’re great. Hope you love them too! Big hugs, CoCo

  2. Morning times are the craziest! These ideas are so simple yet brilliant. I always love your ideas!

    1. Speak to my heart Susan! Over the years I’ve learned it’s really hard to turn the day around if we have a rough morning. And while they aren’t always perfect, there are simple ways you can help mitigate drama by preparing in advance. Especially, if you take just a few minutes the night before to set yourself up for success. Big hugs, CoCo

  3. So sorry to hear Piper still has so many anxiety issues! That sweet dog is so lucky to have you!
A breakfast station is such a great idea! I especially like your new bread box, it’s perfection! Here’s to stress-free mornings!

  4. Our last rescue dog was skittish and scared of many things, but she did settle down with time and a lot of love and patience, which is clearly what you are giving Piper.

In contrast, our current rescue is so chill that sometimes I think something’s wrong with him! Ha! He just loves to be lazy and loved on.

Such a cute and fresh breakfast station! And further down, the grazing board: I love how you’ve arranged that, and the bacon in the creamer/pitcher is a great idea! I am planning a brunch/tea party for September so that post will be especially helpful.

    Thanks, CoCo!

  5. Piper is so lucky to have you CoCo, I love when I hear there are others out there who change life up for their four legged kiddos. We have had to change several things here for Bentley. I wish I could tell you that Piper will outgrow this, but it has to be connected to some sort of trauma she experienced. Bentley still does not like garbage bags, and will run away once he sees a new bag come from the closet. When opening the bag, he seems to trigger. I know he came from a home with teenage boys, but that is about all I have knowledge of. He was a biter when he felt his space was being encroached. We have worked with him so much over the years, and have had to change vets several times. We finally found his whisperer who has German Shepherds in the past, and is wonderful with him. She has been able to explain so much to me about his behaviors. I am thankful for meeting her and her guidance. I have had dogs my entire life, and always felt so connected with all of my pups, he was a challenge, but I couldn’t give up. He is my sidekick everywhere I go now, I am not actually sure how I could have made it through these last several years without him. So happy for you that you have figured out this next step with Piper. Hopefully she will trigger less and less over time.

  6. Coco, this is such a great idea! And I think a great idea for the holidays and when guests are in the house as well.
I hope that you are enjoying the last few weeks of summer. Have a wonderful day.

  7. Such a great idea! Love anything that helps mornings go smoother. 🫨 Especially since I am not a morning person. Had to buy some of those wooden spreaders because aside from being functional- they are super cute!
