This Week’s Tip Sheet: Summer Bucket List Tips

Welcome to Week 23 of the Simplified and Organized Home Challenge.

This week we’re creating a summer bucket list.

I know for those of us working full time though, creating a summer bucket list might feel like making another to do list.

After all, going into the office everyday doesn’t exactly give summer vibes.

The thing I keep trying to remind myself is that the summer months are going to pass by anyway, so we may as well be intentional about them.

Even in the smallest of ways.

Below, I’m sharing a few of our favorite tips and tricks to help make creating a summer bucket list super simple.

No matter if you’re going into the office, traveling abroad or staying home with the littles.

Now on to this week’s Tip Sheet!

This Week’s Tidy Tip:

Honoring Your Energy

Creating a summer bucket list can feel overwhelming, especially if you’re working full time or if you already have a busy summer season planned.

On the one hand, you don’t want to miss an opportunity to make memories.

On the other hand, you might not need one more thing added to your already full plate right now.

So, before you start making your summer bucket list think about what you and your family need most.

Then create a plan that honors that energy.

Choosing Ideas and Themes

Consider choosing one theme or weekly themes that feel manageable so you can keep things simple.

You can write out your ideas on a piece of plain paper and keep them in your notebook, hang them on your refrigerator, or cross ideas off a memory board, whiteboard, chalkboard or a big piece of brown kraft paper.

You can also create a Summer Bucket List Bingo Card.

Planning Ahead

Once you have your ideas in place, put them on your calendar so you can plan ahead.

Keep track of everything in the Notes app on your phone, in your notebook or your planner to help you stay organized.

Create a backup list of ideas for rainy days or days that get interrupted and don’t work out as planned.

Consider creating a menu around your theme or activities.

It will help make mealtimes much easier.

Design a summer cleaning routine around your day that’s easy to keep up with and simple to maintain.

This Week’s Wellness Tip:

Keep in mind, you don’t have to have your passport stamped to have a beautiful summer.

So, think about the things that bring you joy and make time for them.

If you’re also heading into the office or working full time, think about simple ways you can sprinkle a bit of summer magic into your day.

Change up your drink order, wear a style you’ve never worn before, find a signature scent that smells like summer, create a summer playlist for your commute, carve out an afternoon for a summer field trip, spend time in your garden, start a summer book series, take turns making lunch for the ladies in your lunch group, grab dinner with friends at a restaurant you’ve been wanting to try, leave work an hour early and go to the movies, stop by the flower market on your way home, capitalize on your weekends and make them your own.

Truly, there are so many ways to add whimsy to our lives every day.

And isn’t that what summer is all about anyway?

As always, I hope this week’s Tip Sheet has helped.

Until next time, I’ll see you on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.

Cheering you on as you create a summer season that is everything you need it to be,
