I’ve loved to read books and magazines for as long as I can remember. While we were in the mountains over the holidays I decided I was going to give myself the gift of carving out intentional time in my schedule each week to enjoy books again. This is also the same time I realized we were all reading similar books on Instagram and the monthly series, What’s on my Nightstand was born. In the midst of organizing the kitchen, I got a crazy idea to give the walk in pantry a little makeover too. We gave the walls a fresh coat of paint, created a space for vintage dishes, party supplies, updated the dry goods side of the pantry, built two storage drawers, put up a chalkboard for the weekly grocery list and even made a dog feeding station from an old nightstand. While we were waiting on my dad to finish the farm table for the dining room at Loblolly, my mom and I got to work on another set of chairs. We’ve used varied colors of chalk paint on almost all of the painted pieces throughout the house and we wanted something with a totally different finish.
