This Week’s Tip Sheet: Simple Cleaning Tips

Hello beautiful friends and welcome to Week 12 of the 52 Weeks to a Simplified and Organized Home Challenge.

March and April are typically big travel months thanks to Spring Break and the long Easter holiday.

Have you made any plans yet?

While there are always fun things to look forward to in the days leading up to a trip like packing fresh sundresses, researching new places to eat, antique stores to shop, local haunts to discover and hiking trails to explore, let’s face it, the trip back can be a little exhausting.

Especially, if your trip was jam packed with activities.

So, to help take the pressure off a bit I wanted to share four simple things you can do to help make the transition home a lot easier.

Most of these ideas can be organized before you ever leave the house or while you’re away.

Now on to this week’s Tip Sheet!

This Week’s Tip Sheet…

Quote of the Week:

“Taking care of yourself is the most powerful way to take care of others.” ~Bryant McGill

This Week’s Big To-Do’s:

  • Create a Sustainable Cleaning Schedule
  • Celebrate Tea for Two Tuesday
  • Welcome Spring
  • Try a New Stretch Class or Video

This Week’s Tidy Tips:

  • Clean your house or hire a cleaning service before you leave or have your housekeeper clean while you’re away on vacation. There’s nothing better than walking into clean spaces after a long trip.
  • If you’re short on time make sure you’ve tackled the basics before you leave: make the beds, wash and put away the dishes, tidy up your kitchen and bathroom counters and declutter the top of your nightstand or desk, wipe down the kitchen and bathroom sinks and countertops, place clothes in the laundry hamper, hang towels, reset the living room, and sweep the floors. This usually only takes around 20-30 minutes depending on how much clutter you have to put away and is an easy way to reset the house before you leave.
  • If you have a long car ride or flight back, use those hours to create a shopping list, schedule your groceries to be delivered or picked up via curbside service. This will help you save time when you’re tired and have other things you need to catch up on like lots of laundry.
  • Prep dinner in advance with an easy freezer meal. That way, you’ll have something to eat when you get home, and you won’t have to spend a lot of extra time in the kitchen. Lasagna, stew, chili, gumbo, and chicken pot pie are always a big hit after a long trip. Plus, it will give you extra time to talk about your favorite memories.

    Wellness Tip:

Making healthy choices on vacation is not always easy.

Especially when there are new and exciting restaurants to try and places to visit.

So, keep things simple by choosing healthy meals where available, staying properly hydrated, making movement part of your day, finding moments to decompress, continuing your sleep routine and giving yourself lots of grace along the way.

After all, vacations are for creating magical memories.

As always, I hope these tips have helped!

Cheering you on as you work to blend work life and family life,

    CoCo

    2. Those are great tips for coming home to a clean house after traveling! We always have a person stay at our house to take care of our fur baby. It’s great coming home to everything having been taken care of. There was one time that we got a teenage boy to stay. I don’t know what we were thinking! We came in from vacation and had to clean the house. Lesson learned!
